Summarize the epidemiology and etiology of PTSD.

Identify risk factors for developing PTSD.

Identify the symptoms and diagnostic criteria.

Discuss the impact that caring for a person with PTSD has on family and caregivers.

Discuss appropriate assessment and diagnosis of patients with suspected PTSD.

Describe current interventions and outcome goals for patients.

REQUIRED IN CT. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Training. 2-contact-hour course on understanding the impact of PTSD and trauma. Learn how to be prepared and intervene appropriately. Covers assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the disorder. CEU applicable for nursing and other healthcare providers. Meets Connecticut DPH PTSD requirement for RNs and LPNs.
